SEEKING SHORT TERM FOSTERS!
As a practice, our organization places pets in real home environments until the pet is adopted. Unless there is an emergency need or dangerous situation, our pets are not crated or kenneled. We believe this leads to well adapted pets who are used to the same day to day activities and routines that their future adoptive family is also accustomed to.
In order for our rescue to continue to save as many lives as possible, we are ALWAYS seeking reliable, trustworthy, and loyal foster families who can hopefully care for these pets until they find their fur-ever home. BUT, did you know that we are also ALWAYS in need of a list of short term fosters as well?
WHAT EXACTLY IS A SHORT TERM FOSTER?
This is a select group of people who can cover the time until a more permanent solution can be found. It could range from a weekend, to a week, or maybe even two weeks; all depending on your comfort level. Temporary fosters allow us to save so many more lives!
WHY ARE SHORT TERM FOSTERS NEEDED?
In our line of work, you can almost always expect the unexpected. Short term foster families can help our rescue to bridge the gaps that we so frequently face. This could include:
- Surgery recovery
- Specific medical needs
- Pets recovering from trauma
- Pets who may need to be kept away from other pets or children
- Litters of puppies who need special attention
- Transport pick up / drop off
- Filling in for other fosters who go on vacation
- Filling in for volunteers who are sick
- Filling in when the rescue is short staffed
Our most recent special need is this upcoming weekend. Our director, Karen, is hoping that she will be able to attend a niece’s wedding which is out of town.
We love our director, and we know she deserves a getaway to see her family!
If you are able to welcome a loving pet into your home for this weekend only, please call Karen Ragusa at (678) 275-4055 for details. The dates of coverage needed are Thursday- Tuesday (June 6- June 11). NOTE: If you are comfortable caring for pets with special needs or medical issues, please let Karen know as well!
